Out and About in the Digiworld - Still Time to Shop

I hope everyone here in the US had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We had a nice day at our house with lots of family present.

Usually I try to make sure the Out and About Column is a mix of products, free resources and layout inspiration, however in the spirit of the shopping season season, today's column will be all sales and product recommendations. Black Friday may be over, but there are still deals to be had in digiland.

Sweet Shoppe Designs has extended their Black Friday sale through Saturday. Everything in the store remains 40% off. Also through the month of December SSD will be offering a free template a day, based on the staff's favorite layouts. New Release - Happy Birthday Baby

My baby girl will be turning one in two short weeks (sniffle, sniffle).



So I made her a digi kit to celebrate. Happy Birthday Baby Girl!



Then of course, I had to make one for the boys.



Each of these sets contains 1 paper, two titles and an oversized '1' that are specific to 'Baby's First Birthday'. However there are also papers and loads of elements that will work for other birthdays and celebrations.

Out and About in the Digiworld

Sweet Shoppe Designs is featured in the Nov/Dec issue of Scrap N'Art Scrapbooking eZine. The ezine is a free download once you register at the site and along with the SSD article is free collaborative kit, All I Want from the SSD designers.





If I had an award for usuable, well-executed, super realistic elements, it would go to Helena Jole. Check out the paper flowers in her Paper Drawer element pack at NDISB.



Designer Digitals is having storewide 30% off sale through Nov. 18th.

There is a breeze in the air, leaves are turning to beautiful shades of oranges and reds, we are planning our Thanksgiving meals and designers are releasing .... snow kits? Ok, I know it is snowing in parts of the world. I can't bring myself to buy a snow kit until I actually have photos to scrap with it. As soon as I have need for one, I'll be picking up Krystal Hartley's Feeling Frosty. I like the splash of red with all the icy blues and green. With a little scrap-ingenuity, I could see this working for casual Christmas photos too.



Trina is running a recipe exchange digistyle. You can read about it and join in here in the DST forum.

While it has nothing to do with digital scrapping, crafters might be interested in Spoonflower, a site that allows you to upload your own designs to create custom fabric. Imagine a quilt full of layouts.

I might as well bookmark AshleyKennedy's entire gallery. I am inspired by the way she combines clean design with bold pattern. I count at least 6 different patterned papers in My Little Girl and yet it doesn't contain any of the chaos my layout would have should I ever attempt such a feat. In fact, her page feels remarkably peaceful.



Kelleanne's Connor's First Solids goes into the 'pages that make me laugh' file. Her layout contains several funny little details that go a long way toward capturing the moment. I like the various brightly colored frames on the line of photos - very effective against the black background. The Yummy (not) Yummy (not) Yummy (not) border across that top of the page is a clever addition. Of course those adorable photos steal the show.



I was drawn into ~Karen~'s Faithful Friend by the wonderful and touching photo. The warm tones of the papers and exquisitely designed title work make this one a show stopper. I almost feel like I'm there in the moment with them.

Even though Mya is only 11 months old and doesn't talk yet, she and Jamin already seem to have the entire spectrum of the brother/sister relationship down. They go from playing to fighting and back again in no time flat. I love catching glimpses of the genuine affection they have for one another.

I took these photos a couple of days ago. Mya crawled right up into Jamin's lap and bounced and giggled until he played with her. When he told her it was time to get off, she grabbed his face and gave him a big smooch.

Sweet Shoppe Designs is closed this week for a site redesign. It will reopen next Saturday, November 15th. No new releases from me this weekend. Since you won't be making your weekly trek to my store ;) let's see what else is happening in digiland ...

Scrapbookgraphics has recently added a host of new designers. Precious Pack from SussieM Designs is a gorgeous collection of jewelry elements. If you are in need of ideas for how they might be used (and I certainly was) just check out the additional images for this product in the SBG store.



Are you starting to think about Thanksgiving festivities? I can imagines plenty of hybrid uses for Katie Hadfield's Gobble Gobble; invitations, place cards, decorative tags to go on a gift for the hostess...
