In honor of the foot of snow we had here last week that is finally melting my desktop has a photo of my son enjoying the white stuff.

Out and About in the Digiworld

As we near the end of 2008 two talented designers (that I know of, I'm sure there are others) have decided to hang up their designing hat. While we won't be getting the blessing of their talents much long, we can pick up their stuff at a great price. I wish you all the best ladies.

JenLin's Scrap Matters store is 50-70% off.

Amy Sumrall's shop at Sunshine Studio Scraps is 60% off. Discount will show up once products have been added to your cart.

Christine Renee is retiring her entire store to make way for 2009 products. You can pick up everything at 50% discount through the end of December. Christina offers lots of grunge and vintage items.

Those looking for Year in Review Templates will find a great deal with Kim Hill's set of 6 templates for $6.00 ($4.20 if you pick them up this weekend) at Scrapbook-Elements.

We Are Storytellers is having 50% off storewide year end sale.

Check out this beautiful first year page by Luciana Orikassa. The template used to create this page is by Dunia Acauan and is available on sale at Digiscrappers Brasil.

I like the drama added by the photo cropping in Adoration by Warrior Princess.

New Release - Daddy's Apprentice

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday. We had a lovely Christmas with family over both Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Jamin and Mya were both thoroughly spoiled by their grandparents. Living in the Pacific Northwest we rarely have a white Christmas but there was over a foot of snow on the ground this Christmas season. It has really been a picture perfect Christmas.

Speaking of picture perfect. Here is sweet Mya scoping out the presents,

the handsome Jamin performing in his school's Christmas concert,

and both kiddos in their Christmas Eve pjs.

My new release this week isn't particularly related to the holiday season unless your little one got a new tool set, Bob the Builder tractors or a Handy Manny video. I figured there are already plenty of Christmas kits available.

Watching Her Grow

Last week I took Mya for her 1 year check-up and the doctor gave me her growth chart. It's definitely something for her scrapbook, but I couldn't help but wonder if there was a prettier way to document her stats. That chart became the inspiration for this page.

I converted the page to a template which is now available at SSD. Each chart marker, arrow and photo spot is in it's own layer so you can customize the template for your child's age and weight. This template has a lot of layers for maximum customizability. It functions just like any other layered template, but if you are new to working with templates I recommend starting with a simple one or this tutorial first.

Out and About in the Digiworld - Bring on the Snow

My little guy has been overflowing with excited energy - we got snow! Here are a few photos of his adventures.

Sneaking up on grandpa with a snowball.

Grandpa fights backs.

This is our snowman. His name is Roger.

On to the digi stuff.

Congrats to The Ettes and Company on their grand opening. There is a new freebie in the shop each day leading up to Christmas. Their page set are full of artifully chosen colors palettes and fun elements, like Feelin' Happy.

I'm not sure how long they've been open, but The Red Porch is new to me. Check out all the fun felt work in Nicole Golden's First Day of School.

Brianna of Atomic Cupcake always has a free action available, changing every Tuesday.

Shabby Pickle is running a 30% off storewide sale all weekend.

Each weekend We Are Storytellers runs a 'Bookfair' promotion. You can buy the featured kit for $2.00 and then two other products of your choice at 35% off. This weekend's featured kit, Be {Re}Solved is a beautiful tribute to a new year and new beginnings.

Royanna Fritschmann has a "Buy My Store" dealing going for $29.00. Even sweeter, when you purchase, she will send you a coupon for $29.00 towards your 2009 purchases. Here's a look at her latest release, Holiday Flakey.

Love the moment captured in Cassie Jone's page, Newfound Freedom. Breathtaking photo, precious journaling and the bird flying free of the cage ... it all comes together to so beautifully.

Smiles by kriscrosby is a wonderfully artistic approach to a multiphoto page. You can pick up Vinnie's template use for this page here.

Calendars - Check!

One more check-off from the 'things to do before Christmas' list. I've finished our 2009 calendars and they are now in Shutterfly's capable hands. I won't have a new release this weekend as I spend the week scrapping my calendar pages (nothing quite like saving a project until the last minute).

I won't bore you will all the pages from the calendar. I have relatives who read the blog and I don't want to reveal the whole thing. Still, I thought I'd share a couple of my favorites. I used Janet Phillip's 2009 Calendar Templates.

Here's the cover.

Miss June (photo by Holli Dunn, page set is A Little Bit Flirty by Robin Carlton and Zoe Pearn)

November (solid background by me, stripe paper by Meredith Fenwick, elements from Sweet November by Dani Mogstand, alpha from Bloomin' Crazy by Kay Miller and MandaBean)

From the 'I can't believe this was a year ago' department, here is December. (Everything from Wide-Eyed Wonder by me)

Out and About in the Digiworld - It's Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas

The holiday spirit abounds as sites are offering sales and goodies leading up to Christmas. I covered several in last week's column. Here are a few others.

Digital Artist Magazine offered a week of freebies. I believe they are all still available for download here. I also see there is a new Editor-in-Chief at DAM. Best wishes to you Terri.

Shabby Pickle has various deals throughout the month. You can see them all on the shoppe calendar.

Scrap Orchard is running a 12 days of Christmas promotion with lots of sales and goodies. You can follow the happenings on their blog.

The Little Dreamer Designs 12 Days of Christmas Sale starts tomorrow. You can see the calendar of events here.

On a less festive, but still sale-related note, Amy Teets is retiring from Oscraps and is running a buy-the-store promotion through the end of December. Amy has a wide variety of products including some gorgeous quick page albums.

Cinnamon Designs is having a storewide 50% off sale this weekend. Check out this adorable little set.

Geeky Diva Designs has some great hybrid templates at ScrapMatters. The set includes 4 different polyhedron templates that can be used for creating gift boxes and ornaments. The additional preview images in the store show you several sample finished products. Note to Geeky Diva - your product is unpriced, but thanks :)

The DigiDares blog is back up at a new address with their weekly challenges and great prizes.

Registration is now open for the Amazing Digiscrapping Race hosted by Natural Designs in Scrapbooking. This is a 6 week 'race' modeled loosely after the TV show Amazing Race. Entrance is free. Teams of scrappers pair up to complete various challenges and earn prizes along the way. Unlike the TV amazing race you don't have to 'beat' other scrappers. Simply complete each challenge to earn a prize. You can read more and get help finding a partner in the NDISB forums here.

No Reimer Reason is hosting a multiphoto layout challenge at Go Digital Scrapbooking. She is offering a free template to help you get it done.

Hummie's World has a great recoloring tutorial by Danielle of Something Blue Studios.

The composition on Christmas Wishes by neeceebee is a great approach for Christmas photos. I can envision this concept used for a multiphoto page where the photos are 'hung' as ornaments.

It's a rare find in today's galleries, but today I came across a page in which the photo is the predominant image. Scapa's RAK for Amy is beautiful! Can we scrap like this more often? I'm writing it down as one of my new years resolutions. :)

New Release - I Do

This weekend we celebrated Mya's first birthday. Boy did this year go by fast! We had a little party for her and she spent the evening surrounded by her aunts and uncles, cousins and doting grandparents.

I did get a good laugh at her cake. My instructions were to make it flowery, feminine and pastel. I'm not quite sure why the cake decorater decided that included a bright orange balloon? It looks as if they realized the neon orange didn't fit in and air brushed orange onto the piping as well.

Mya didn't mind though, she just ate the ugly orange balloon right off the cake.

New from me at SSD, I Do. This set was created for wedding albums and layouts, but classic black and white can be used for almost anything.

The kit comes with a bonus element pack so you can customize your pages to your wedding colors.

Here is a sample page created with the kit by team member, Sammi. You can see more team layouts in the sidebar slider.

After I finished I Do, I realized how perfectly the Pebble Alphas worked with the kit, so I made a few extra words. You can download by clicking on the preview below.

Out and About in the Digiworld

Proceeds from the December Songbird Avenue Kit, Jolly Holidays, with featured designer Emily Merritt go to the American Diabetes Association.

Several sites are running daily promotions during December. As I mentioned last week, SSD is offering a template a day. If you'd rather not worry about a daily download you can purchase the set with proceeds donated to Toys for Tots.

Catscrap has a daily goodie available on their advent calendar. Even if you aren't interested in daily downloads, you should stop by just to see the crazy and creative digi-advent calendar.

Scrapartist is offering a different new item each day at 50% savings.

Faith True and Danielle Engebretson have started a new challenge blog devoted to scrapping Christian faith-based pages. There is a cute freebie available to get you started.

Kitty Designs and Baers Garten Designs combined their talents to create Little Christmas Treasure, a fun, light-hearted, modern take on a Christmas kit.

I just came across these beautiful blended and blocked templates from Christine Borgfeld.

I love this bright, fun page from RatherBScrappin.

Here's another fun, bright page, this one by mom.mia.kia.

I'll be back late tomorrow night with a look at my latest release. By way of a sneak peek, here is a page created by SeattleSheri.
