Out and About in the Digiworld - Shop with Me

This Saturday the industry (both paper and digi) celebrate {inter}National Digital Scrapbooking Day. There are so many wonderful sales and activities going on this weekend, I can't even begin to cover them. Instead, for this Out and About column, I'll share my iNSD shopping list.

Here's what I plan on picking up this weekend.

First stop, Catscrap where everything is 30% off.

Green Collaboration by Joana and Creashen - It's beautiful, looks to have loads of unique pieces and the colors are beautifully subtle, It will work for scrapping both Jamin and Mya.

Naturals by Vinnie Pearce - I really want the heavy corrugated white cardboard on the left and the twine love. The rest of the kit is full of neutral-but-not-boring papers I can use repeatedly.

Next to Little Dreamer Designs to stock up on Tiffany Tillman templates at 30% off.

Strolling through the Farmer's Market at ScrapOrchard, I'll pick up these beauties from Bren Boone for $1.00 each.

That's it for me for now. I'm waiting for Tracy Ann to post her new products and then I'll spend whatever might remain of my iNSD budget in the Project 52 section of Jen Wilson's shop.

Of course, I'll have my fun at Sweet Shoppe Designs on Saturday. I've got my eyes on a new element pack from Zoe Pearn, but I'm not able to post a look at that yet.

Once I've finished all that shopping, I've promised myself I will create at least one page with some of my new goodies by the end of Saturday.

Of course I can't leave this post without telling you about my own new releases. Here's a peak at what I've got coming ....

Here is a page from team member, Amy Stoffel.

So what are your plans for iNSD? Do you shop? scrap? socialize? ignore it completely? Feel free to share your scrapping and shopping plans below.

Out and About in the Digiworld - Calm Before the Storm

This weekend is the calm before next weekend's National Scrapbooking Day storm. However there are still beautiful products, layouts and great sales to be found. Let's take a look.

We Are Storytellers is having a pre-NSD sale; 50% off their entire store April 23-27. BeAUDacious Designs' Express Yourself Word Art combines great word art with colorful paint splashes and frames for just $1.50 during the sale.

Check out this unique and meaningful page by hedderlee. The journaling above the heart reads, "The photos do no justice to our trip."

I mentioned Spoonflower briefly in a previous Out and About column. The site allows you to design your own custom fabrics. ScrapArtist is now selling Spoonflower ready fabric designs. It's great to see new product lines evolving in digiland.

Dawn Inskip just released these funky Background Doodles at TheDigiChick. The set comes with sketch pad papers so you can create your own page arrangement.

These were released during my battle with my gallbladder, so I while I bookmarked them for inclusion, they never made an Out and About column. Fee Jardine's Art Journal Papers: Painted Bliss were created by hand with paint, newspaper, tape and stitching.

Just look a the results close-up.

Here in the Cato household, Mya is attempting to do everything she sees her big brother do; including play with his cars. In her honor, I put together a car kit with just a touchy of girlie, but gender-neutral enough that it works for boys and girls. Look for Cruising the Playroom this Saturday at Sweet Shoppe Designs.

New Releases - Garden District and Boutique

I got the opportunity to work with two amazingly talented ladies this week and I love the results of our collaborations.

First Shauna (aka Pineapple Plantation Designs) and I combined our efforts to create Garden District. I love the drama of red and black together and the greens, pinks and yellows in this set make for an abundance of vibrant page possibilities.

This week only, purchase the Garden District page set and you'll get 6 quick pages free. Just add the kit to your cart and the quick page download links will be included through April 24th.

I am in awe of LilyAnne Taylor's illustrations so I jumped at the chance to work with her on Boutique. Her painted couture sets this kit apart and I can see it used for little princesses, slumber parties, girls night out, brides/bridesmaids getting ready for the big day and more.

This week get this luggage tag album free with the purchase of Boutique (through April 24).

FREE SAMPLE
I can't take credit for this alpha created by Shauna, but she did give me permission to give it away here on my blog. It coordinates with the Garden District page set. Thanks Shauna!

Out and About in the Digiworld - Terrific Templates

It seems to me template designers have raised their game recently with some really eye-catching designs that would be great for multiphoto pages and 'event' scrapping.

Here are just a few of my favorites.

Tiffany Tillman at Little Dreamer Designs has over 30 templates available as singles or in packs of 5. Most (if not all) templates in the shop have sample layouts previewed as well.

Hillary Heidelberg at ScrapbookGraphics has this gorgeous Admire Me Set available, among other great template designs.

It's nice to see templates with journaling incorporated into the design like these from Kaye Winiecki at The Lilypad.

I've always liked color blocking as a clean way to present lots of photos, so I was thrilled to see Bree Clarkson's Blocked templates.

The designer contest at Funky Playground is ramping up, which means lots of freebies available in their gallery here.

Those who may be looking to enter such a contest can check out So You Think You Can Design at DigiScrapAddicts. The have extended the entrance deadline to April 28th.

Whenever I think of rectangle scrappers, I think of Novita and her latest page Thanks for the Memories is both sweet and stunning.

Since Mya is starting to learn her first words lisamars's Blabla is destined for a scraplift.

Out and About in the Digiworld - April News

Tracy Ann Digital Art is continuing her April Fool's $1.00 sale through today (4/2). There are 100 products on sale for just $1.00 like these Beachcomber papers. On her blog she hints about other promotions coming in the next 50 days. TADA fans keep an eye on her site.

ScrapOrchard is turning one and kicking their birthday month off with a 50% off sale. There are freebies available on their blog too.

This month's Songbird Avenue kit, Bloom & Grow, features designer Amy Wolff. All sale proceeds benefit Autism Speaks.

The LilyPad designers are retiring products, which means lots of great stuff on sale, including these Conversation Pieces from CD Muckosky. If you don't mind shopping off season, there is a ton of wonderful Christmas, Thanksgiving and Halloween products included in the retirement sale.

Those looking for inspiration can check out Pixel Canvas's (Vinnie Pearce) April 1 Challenge. The details are in this post at DST. The challenge includes a free template and here is a gorgeous page by Vinnie Pearce using the template.

I like Lexicam' photo arrangement in Live Love Laugh; sister on one side, brother on the other and the two of them in the middle. The monogram on the center photo is a great touch too.
